Security

ElectraWarehouse believes in the importance of security specially for an online store. ElectraWarehouse constantly strives to implement measures that would protect its customers from threats of fraud and/or identity theft. It utilizes various security measures in its website.

256-bit Secure Sockets Layer

Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is a protocol used for securely transmitting data over the internet. It is commonly used in websites such as online stores where users have to send sensitive data to complete a transaction or an order. Information sent using SSL are encrypted so that the information is hidden from the public or from would-be hackers or intruders. ElectraWarehouse uses a 256-bit encryption which is an encryption level much more complex than its predecessors. A webpage can be identified to be using SSL when the URL starts with https:// rather than http://.

Firewall

A firewall limits the data that can pass through it and protects a networked server or client machine from damage by unauthorized users. It uses rules to determine which types of data are allowed access to the protected computers. Some rules may restrict incoming traffic thereby only allowing identified computers to access the internal servers or computers. It may also control outgoing traffic restricting internal computers from accessing potentially harmful computers over the internet. ElectraWarehouse utilizes a firewall for additional protection.

Anti-virus

A computer virus is a computer program that can copy itself and infect a computer. The term virus is also commonly but erroneously used to refer to other types of malware, including but not limited to adware and spyware programs that do not have the reproductive ability. A true virus can spread from one computer to another (in some form of executable code) when its host is taken to the target computer; for instance because a user sent it over a network or the Internet, or carried it on a removable medium such as a floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB drive.

An anti-virus software consists of computer programs that attempt to identify, thwart and eliminate computer viruses and other malicious software (malware). ElectraWarehouse uses anti-virus software to protect its server in conjunction with other security-related software for protection.
